Every June, the Soolsool Festival transforms Gyeongju’s Hwabaek Convention Center (HICO) into a lively hub for craft beer and traditional liquor enthusiasts. From June 21 to 23, 2024, the event hosted over 100 different drinks – including artisanal brews from 12 local breweries, 8 traditional liquor producers, and 12 imported beer brands such as San Miguel, Big Wave Golden Ale, and Delirium 

This festival isn’t just about sipping beer – it celebrates Korea’s vibrant brewing scene, honoring both cutting‑edge craft beers and age‑old liquor traditions. It’s a perfect meeting point for curious newcomers and seasoned beer aficionados alike .

🍺 Beer & Beverage Highlights

• Craft Brews: IPAs, wheat beers, stouts – discover unique flavors from regional breweries.

• Traditional Korean Spirits: Taste centuries‑old recipes from pulse‑pounding local distilleries.

• Imported Favourites: International labels add another layer of global flair.

And the food lineup didn’t just complement—they enhanced the experience: from sweet potato sticks and cube steaks to fried shrimp and hot dogs, there were over 40 pairing options to elevate your pint .

🎵 Entertainment & Atmosphere

This isn't your typical beer fest. Each day featured lively vocal performances, rock bands, and energetic EDM DJs. Notable acts included comedian‑turned‑singer Kim Hong‑nam on Friday and singer Woody on Saturday.

In fact, over 18,000 people attended across the three days, dancing, laughing, and savoring the moment—while celebrating beer and community .

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Fun & Interactive Zones

Contrary to what some might think, the Soolsool Festival is family-friendly. Kids and adults alike enjoyed face‑painting stations, caricature artists, photo zones, and giant Jenga games, which helped create an inclusive, playful atmosphere.

🚍 Shuttle Buses – Convenience at Its Best
No need to stress about parking or long walks—the city organized free shuttle buses connecting key pickup points (Gyeongju Station, bus terminals, Hwangridan‑gil, and East Gyeongju) directly to HICO. This service, sponsored by KHNP, ensured smooth and safe transport for all attendees.
